Since his debut at eighteen with Symphony Orchestra LaVerdi in Milan under the artistic direction of Riccardo Chailly, Roberto Genova performed in over a hundred concerts with several symphony orchestras under the baton of important conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Reinbert de Leeuw, Zhang Xian and Pinchas Steinberg, gaining considerable experience as a saxophonist and finding inspiration as a conductor. In 2005 he moved to the Netherlands to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, in 2006 was the only winner of the audition as saxophonist at the Orchestra del Teatro Regio in Turin.
In 2010 he started to study orchestral conducting under the guidance of Arjan Tien, in 2013 he conducted Purcell opera's Dido and Aeneas during the opening ceremony of the academic year at the Conservatory of Tilburg. He participated to the conducting seminars of the Bartok Festival with Zoltan Pesko and the Sherborne Summer School with George Hurst. He conducted the AMCO ensemble, the Ontzetting Student Orkest, the Intermodulation ensemble and assisted Arjan Tien during the production of Carmen with the Magogo Kamerorkest.
His quest to further broaden his horizons lead to the founding of Cseallox duo, a saxophone and cello duo with the specific aim of inspiring new music from composers. The outspoken nature of the instruments and soloists has produced challenging explorations of their instruments with rewarding results. Cseallox duo has performed in major venues including the Muziekgebouw aan het 'IJ in Amsterdam and at the International Saxophone Festival in Fermo.
Roberto Genova is winner of 19 awards in music competitions and scholarships, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles. In 2002 he graduated in saxophone with honours at the Conservatory 'G. Verdi' of Milan, in 2008 he obtained his 'Master of Music' at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and in 2014 the academic degree with honours in music education at the Conservatory 'G. Verdi' in Turin. The main saxophone teachers Mario Marzi and Henk van Twillert, the master classes and the summer courses attended in saxophone and conducting, helped Roberto Genova to develop his unique music character.
